GDC Purmandal organises Technical Sessions on Agricultural Entrepreneurship On 2nd day of workshop to aware students regarding India’s G20 Presidency 2023 NSS Unit of GDC Purmandal in collaboration with Agriculture and Farmer’s Welfare Department of District Samba organized technical sessions on agricultural entrepreneurship. The resource persons were invited from Agriculture Department and Farmers welfare of District Samba which included Mr. Sumesh Sharma (Incharge DCTC Dhiansar, Samba), Mr. Rajesh Singh (Apiculture Extension Assistant), Mr. Nand Kishore (JAEO) and Ms. Ashu Jamwal (JAEO). The worthy Principal of the college Prof. (Dr.) Raj Shree Dhar formally welcomed the resource persons and also highlighted the importance of New startups in Agriculture Departments that will contribute in doubling the farmers income and ensuring sustainable agricultural practices. She felt there is a great need to provide extension services and built capacities of Farmers, Agripreneurs and Agri Startups on beekeeping, prcessing technologies and marketing to promote the sector. Mr. Sumesh Sharma stressed upon the need to treat beekeeping as an input in Agriculture to boost crop productivity through pollination. He highlighted MadhuKranti portal established by MoAFW to support small and marginal farmers. During the technical sessions Mr. Rajesh Singh and Ms. Ashu Jamwal explained in detail the Agri-startups in Honey sector and discussed the oppurtunities and challenges in the sector. Mr. Nand Kishore made a presentation on the traceability of source of honey and other beehive products. Participating in the interactive session most of the students desired that awareness, training and opportunities need to be provided to promote beekeeping in their respective areas. The whole programme was organized under the patronage and active participation of Prof. (Dr.) Raj Shree Dhar and successfully coordinated by Prof. Mohammad Rafi (NSS PO) with the help of organizing team which included Prof. Lakshmi Sohan (HOD English), Prof. Shahima Akhter ( Convener NSS) and Prof. (Dr.) Deepika Mehra (HOD Dogri).
