GDC Purmandal Celebrates Lohri And Makarsankranti

NSS Unit of GDC Purmandal celebrated festivals of Lohri and Makrsakranti on 14 January, 2023. The festivals are dedicated to worshipping of Sun God and marks the beginning of the harvest season. It depicts the start of a period of peace, prosperity and goodwill. On this occasion a bonfire was lit by NSS volunteers of the college. Students and staff members participated in these festivities by singing Lohri songs and also danced around the bonfire, performed other Lohri rituals by distributing eatables like popcorn, groundnuts, jaggery, Gacchak etc. The celebration of these festivals symbolizes that every section of the society despite different caste, color, sex, creed, religion should live with harmonious bond. The event was successfully organized under the able guidance and supervision of Principal of the College Dr. Raj Shree Dhar. Organizing team included Prof. Mohammad Rafi (NSS PO), Prof. Lakshmi Sohan (HOD English), Prof. Shahima Akhter (Convener NSS) and Prof. Deepika Mehra (HOD Dogri).
