Govt. Degree College, Purmandal conducted Plantation Drive

Eco-Club of GDC Purmandal carried out plantation drive in the college premises to commemorate “World Nature Conservation Day, 2022”. This day is celebrated annually and stresses the need for preserving a healthy environment and natural resources to maintain a stable and healthy society. The whole programme was conducted under the patronage of worthy Principal of the college Prof. Seema Mir. Principal of the college inaugurated the drive by planting sapling of Ficus religiosa or Sacred fig (Peepal Tree). In her address, She said that the conservation of nature is managing and utilizing of natural resources wisely for the long term benefits and welfare of mankind as a whole. She further added that humans should make efforts to conserve the nature and natural resources and should minimize their destructive efforts. All the faculty members, non-teaching staff and students participated in the said drive thereby planting 20 saplings of different varieties including medicinal and ornamental plants. The whole event was coordinated by Prof. Shahima Akhter (HOD Environmental Sciences).
