Madam Sushma Chauhan (IAS), Administrative Secretary, HED, UT of J&K was the Chief Guest on the occasion and Prof. (Dr.) Yasmeen Ashai, Director Colleges, HED, UT of J&K, Jammu was the Guest of honour. Mission Director (ICPS) Shabnam Shah Kamili, Mubassir Latifi (SSP), Commandant IRP 15TH Battalion, Jammu and Senior Advocate J&K High Court Sheikh Shakeel Ahmed were the revered speakers. The proceedings of the event were started with the formal welcome address by Prof. Seema Mir (Principal, GDC, Purmandal) . She heartily welcomed all the guests. The first speaker of the event was Madam Shabnam Shah Kamili (MD, ICPS). She spoke at length about what actually Sexual Harassment is ? She laid emphasis upon the general harassment of women folk and shared the real stories of this pervasive and prevalent issue. Mr. Mubassir Latifi also reiterated upon this burning issue and spoke at length on the modesty of women and for this holistic approach need to be adopted. He stressed upon that, this curse is in every department. He further added that to eradicate this menace of Sexual Harassment, the public should be made aware at large scale through social Media and the girls need to be offensive. Speaking on the occasion, Sheikh Shakeel Ahmed (Senior Advocate High Court Jammu) stressed upon the exemplary punishment of this unwelcome behavior. He also enumerated upon the certain areas which need to be dealt with specialized, time oriented mechanism and adequate laws. He also emphasized on the strict measures of taken by Honâ€™ble Supreme Court in which Sexual Harassment comes under criminal Act 354 (A) of IPC. On the occasion, Director Colleges, Higher Education Department, Dr. Yasmeen Ashai deliberated that women are different and God has bestowed her with a special status in all the religions. She stressed upon the gender equity, equality and process of socialization. She also emphasized that a safe and healthy environment should be created at workplaces and more and more such programmes should be organized for the awareness of public. Afterwards there was an elaborative interactive session conducted by Prof. Shahima Akhter (HOD, Environmental Sciences) in which renowned academician and fresh appointees from the Jammu Province colleges actively participated and shared their experiences. Prof. Seema Mir, Principal of the college expressed her views about this epidemic and compared this menace with Covid pandemic. she humbly submitted to worthy Administrative Secretary, Sushma Chauhan (IAS), HED, UT of J&K and Director Colleges Prof. (Dr.) Yasmeen Ashai that this menace is spreading like a wild fire especially in the institutions of J&K Higher Education Department. She pleaded to the teaching fraternity to get united and fight for eradication of this evil. The programme ended with formal vote of thanks by Prof. Nirlape Kour (Convener, CASH) and technically supported by Mr. Akshay (Computer Operator of the college).
