GDC Purmandal organizes debate competition for Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyan NSS Unit in collaboration with Red Ribbon Club and Happiness Club of the college under the aegis of India’s G20 Presidency organized a debate competition on the topic “Is Bad Parenting responsible for Drug Abuse among the Youth”. The programme commenced with the formal welcome of the chief Guest Mr. Avtar Singh (DDC, Purmandal) and Guest of Honor Ms. Sapna Sapolia (Sarpanch, Katwalta) by Worthy Principal of the college Prof. (Dr.) Raj Shree Dhar. While speaking on the occasion she stressed that we must fight drug menace through awareness campaigns by adhering to five most important pillars which are Drug Detection, Network destruction, culprit detention, addict rehabilitation and Zero tolerance policy against Drug Abuse. There were 20 participating students who participated in the said debate. The first prize was won by Ms. Lakshita Sharma of B.A. Sem 6th while Ruksana Akther of B.A. Sem 6th and Supriya Devi of B.A. Sem- 2nd stood 2nd and 3rd respectively. DDC, Purmandal Avtar Singh urged all stakeholders to join in creating awareness about the illegal use of drugs and the measures to be taken to prevent this menace. Ms. Sapna Sapolia Sarpanch appreciated efforts of the college Principal in organizing this programme which she said, will prove beneficial for the eradication of illegal use of drugs. The proceedings of the day were conducted by Prof. Shahima Akhter Nodal Officer, RRC and formal vote of thanks was presented by Prof. (Dr.) Deepika Mehra (HOD, Dogri). At the end a pledge under Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyan was administered to the participating students and audience by Prof. Lakshmi Sohan (HOD English). The whole programme was successfully organized under the patronage of Worthy Principal Prof. (Dr.) Raj Shree Dhar and coordinated by Prof. Mohammad Rafi (NSS PO) with the active support of other members of the NSS & Happiness Club.
