GDC Purmandal Celebrates National Girl Child Day 2023

NSS Unit of GDC Purmandal celebrated National Girl Child Day 2023 on 24th of January, 2023. The day is being celebrated in India every year on 24th of January since 2008. It spreads awareness to promote the education, rights, health and nutrition of a Girl Child. The main focus of the day is to bring change in People’s attitude towards girls by creating awareness about the declining sex ratio. Speaking on the occasion Principal of the college Prof. (Dr.) Raj Shree Dhar threw light on different schemes launched by Government of India for overall growth and development of the girl child like ‘ Beti Bachao Beti Padao’, Sukanya Samriddhi Yojana, Balika Samriddhi Yojana, CBSE Udaan Scheme, National Schme of Incentives to girls for secondary education, Mukhyamantri Kanya Suraksha Yojana etc. She said this day focuses attention on the need to address the challenges girls face and to promote girls’ empowerment and the fulfillment of their human rights. She further elaborated that a girl child needs to be mentored and taught the proper values that will improve her self worth. A girl child needs to be Provide for, Cared for, Cherished and Loved. A girl child needs to be affirmed repeatedly that she is priceless. The whole programme was organized under the patronage of Prof. (Dr.) Raj Shree Dhar and Coordinated by Prof. Mohammad Rafi (NSS PO). Other members of the organizing team included Prof. Shahima Akhter (Convener NSS), Prof. Lakshmi Sohan (HOD ENGLISH) and Prof. Deepika Mehra (HOD Dogri).
