GDC Purmandal Celebrates “Rashtriya Khel Diwas”

NSS Unit in collaboration with Sports Committee of the college celebrated “National Sports Day, 2023” on 29th of August, 2023 under ‘Meri Mati Mera Desh’ and ‘Fit India Campaign’ of GOI with a motto to promote Awareness about the significance of sports and being physically active in day to day life. In commemoration of this important day marking the birth anniversary of Hockey wizard Major Dhyan Chand an Intramural Girls Kho-Kho Match and Boys Volleyball Match was organized. A pledge taking ceremony was also held in which Fit India Pledge was administered to Staff and Students by Mr. Mohinder Kumar, Student of B.A. Semester-5th. Speaking on the occasion worthy Principal of the college Prof. [Dr.] Raj Shree Dhar said that sports is a integrating force which can bring us all together in realizing the dream of ‘One Earth, One Family, One Future’. She further emphasized the importance of regular exercise and a healthy lifestyle. The whole event was organized under the patronage of Prof. [Dr.] Raj Shree Dhar and coordinated by Prof. Mohammad Rafi [NSS PO & Convener Sports Committee]. Organizing team included Prof. Lakshmi Sohan [HOD English], Prof. Shahima Akhter [HOD EVS] and Dr. Deepika Mehra [HOD Dogri].
