GDC Purmandal Celebrated World Ozone Day

Eco-Club of GDC Purmandal organized various activities on the theme “Montreal Protocol: Fixing the ozone layer and reducing climate change” to commemorate World Ozone Day on 16th of September, 2023. Students of the college made beautiful posters that depicted how ozone acts as a protective umbrella and wrote different slogans like “Earth without Ozone is like a house without roof”, Ozone, not a layer but a protector”. Prof. Shahima Akhter [Head Department of Environmental Sciences] gave a detailed PowerPoint presentation about all important aspects related to depletion of ozone layer and remedial measures that can be helpful in preventing the further deterioration of this fragile layer. She further added that the celebration of the day serves as an opportunity to reflect on the significance of this protective shield that envelops our Planet and the ongoing global initiatives dedicated to ensuring its health and longevity. As a part of celebration, documentary was also screened to the students. The whole programme was organized under the guidance of worthy Principal of the college Prof. [Dr.] Raj Shree Dhar. She applauded the efforts of the students and encouraged them to adopt eco-friendly lifestyle. The programme was adroitly conducted by Prof. Shahima Akhter [convener eco-club] along with Prof. Lakshmi Sohan, Prof. Deepika Mehra and Prof. Mohammad Rafi.
